Burg Dub

Burg Dub is a medieval castle ruin standing on a low hill overlooking the Oslava River, featuring stone walls and gate structures from its original fortifications. The remains show a defensive layout typical of medieval strongholds with visible stonework and rampart traces.

The castle was founded in 1233 and served as a residence for the Lords of Tasov before being abandoned in the early 15th century. The structure gradually fell into ruin and has remained in this state ever since.

The castle ruins represent an example of early Gothic fortification architecture and maintain protected status as a Czech Republic cultural monument.

The castle ruins are located southwest of Tasov village and can be reached via a marked hiking trail starting from the center. The walk is straightforward and suitable for casual visitors without special equipment.

The complex features a distinctive pentagonal layout with a separate outer fortified area, separated from the main structure by a significant moat. This careful defensive design reveals how medieval builders thought about protection.
