Březina Chateau

Březina Chateau is an Empire-style building featuring symmetrical wings that rises among gardens in the town and displays architectural details from the early 1800s. The estate includes several interior rooms, such as a portrait gallery, a banquet hall, and an armory, which connect to the surrounding Renaissance gardens.

The Sternberg family acquired the property in 1758 and built a new castle in the early 1800s to replace an earlier structure from 1379. This early 19th-century reconstruction gave the estate the Empire-style form it retains today.

The Lokšanská library housed within the château preserves one of the country's oldest book collections, which visitors can view in the elegantly decorated rooms. This collection reflects how important learning and knowledge were to the family that lived here.

Visitors can explore the château through guided tours that provide access to the interior rooms and surrounding gardens. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes, as the visit includes both indoor and outdoor areas.

The château park was developed by Kaspar Maria von Sternberg and was known for rare plant species from various regions. A severe frost in 1929 caused substantial damage to this significant botanical collection.
