Kláštov

Kláštov is the highest point of the Vizovice Hills and rises above the flat landscape of Eastern Moravia. From this summit, wide views extend across the surrounding hills and valleys.

Archaeological evidence shows this site was inhabited during the urnfield culture period around the 1st century. A fortified settlement was established in the 9th century and became an important regional center.

This place served as a pilgrimage destination in medieval times and drew worshippers from across the region. The veneration at this holy site shaped religious life in surrounding villages for generations.

Hiking trails to this summit are well marked and lead through hilly terrain. Depending on fitness and route choice, the walk takes between one and two hours.

Excavations uncovered an elaborate iron sword fitting decorated with brass inlays, revealing skilled 9th-century craftsmanship. The object blends local production techniques with design influences that traveled along trade routes from distant regions.
