Hotel Avion, Functionalist hotel in Brno, Czech Republic
The ten-story Hotel Avion features a ferro-concrete skeleton with large windows and ceramic cladding across its narrow eight-meter width and forty-meter height.
Architect Bohuslav Fuchs designed and constructed Hotel Avion between 1926 and 1928, replacing a former ground-floor inn on a limited parcel of land.
The hotel building, recognized as a national cultural monument, represents a significant example of functionalist architecture studied by architectural schools worldwide.
The property contains thirty-seven rooms with seventy-seven beds, a restaurant, cafe, museum, and offers guided tours every Saturday starting at 11:00.
Hotel Avion incorporates vertical space mixing through rounded staircases and segmented galleries, connecting the first and second-floor cafe areas.
