Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, Baroque church in Přední Ptákovice, Czech Republic

The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows is a baroque pilgrimage church on the southeastern edge of Strakonice, in the Podsrp locality. It has a longitudinal layout with an almost square nave, a rectangular presbytery with a three-sided end, a two-storey sacristy and side chapels. The three-axis main facade is divided by pilasters and has a slightly projecting central risalit with a casula window.

A farmer found a statue of the Virgin Mary carried off from the Strakonice bridge by the 1718 flood and set it up in a shelter by his field. A chapel replaced the shelter in 1749 and was enlarged in 1766; Count Michael Ferdinand of Althann, Grand Prior of the Order of Malta, began the present church in 1770, and the statue was placed on the altar on 9 September 1774.

The church keeps the invocations "Panno Maria Podsrpenská!" and the annual pilgrimage on Good Friday. The statue of the Virgin Mary, found after the 1718 flood, remains the focus of local devotion. The parish is now administered from Strakonice.

The church stands on the southeastern edge of Strakonice, in the Podsrp part of Přední Ptákovice, reachable by the road from Strakonice to Vodňany. Two large protected lime trees from the former avenue survive beside that road. Regular Sunday services are held, and the annual pilgrimage falls on Good Friday.

The church is unoriented, with a longitudinal layout and an almost square nave, an oblong presbytery with a three-sided end, a two-storey sacristy and side chapels. The unified baroque interior, including the panel altar, dates from the construction period.
