Kostel Povýšení svatého Kříže

The Church of the Exaltation of the Cross in Doubravnik is a Gothic-Renaissance building with three naves and a polygonal choir. The tower stands out for its Rococo stucco decoration at the bell level, while the interior features a late Baroque altar adorned with a painting by Franz Anton Maulbertsch.

Funded by the Pernstein family between 1535 and 1557, this church replaced an earlier Augustinian monastery founded in 1230. Its construction occurred during a period when the region was shaped by this powerful family's influence and experienced architectural renewal.

The church's name honors the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, a tradition rooted in local devotion. Inside, you will notice centuries-old gravestones that speak to the families who shaped the region's history.
