Liblice Chateau, Baroque chateau in Liblice, Czech Republic
Liblice Chateau is a baroque chateau in the village of Liblice, in Bohemia, Czech Republic, combining baroque design with Renaissance Revival elements on its facades. The building features symmetrical fronts, stucco interiors, and a formal garden that extends around the main structure.
The chateau was built in 1699, designed by Giovanni Battista Alliprandi for Count Arnošt Josef Pachta of Rájov. In 1863, it passed to Countess Antonia von Wallenstein, who made several alterations to the structure.
The chateau is owned by the Czech Academy of Sciences and used as a conference and study center. Visitors can still walk through rooms furnished with period pieces, giving a direct sense of how the space was once lived in.
The grounds are easy to walk around, with the main building and formal garden accessible on foot. Visitors should plan enough time to see both the interior and the exterior, as the property covers a good amount of ground.
The on-site restaurant works with local suppliers, serving game from nearby forests and trout caught in local waters. This makes the chateau one of the few historic properties in the region where the food itself reflects the surrounding landscape.
