Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Catholic church in Zidenice, Czech Republic

The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Zidenice features three naves with architectural elements reflecting regional religious construction methods from the period. The interior shows the traditional layout typical of Catholic churches from that era.

Plans began in 1910 with the Society for the Construction of a Catholic Church in Židenice-Juliánov, which bought land in 1911 and had Vladimír Fischer draft a design in 1914 before World War I halted work. Klaudius Madlmayr's church was begun in 1932 by the Nekvasil firm after the foundation stone was laid on 28 October 1928, and was consecrated on 27 October 1935. Damaged in World War II, it was repaired soon after.

The church is the parish church of the Roman Catholic parish of Brno-Židenice. Its walls bear murals by Petr Pištělka showing the four Evangelists, the arrival of the Slavic missionaries in Great Moravia and the baptism of Duke Bořivoj, painted on white plaster.

The church opens regularly for masses and religious ceremonies throughout the week for visitors to attend. It is helpful to check visiting hours in advance to ensure you can enter during open times.

The building received official designation as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic, granting it special protected status. This recognition reflects its architectural and religious importance to the region.
