Zámek Kupařovice

Zámek Kupařovice is a baroque château organized around a central courtyard containing a historical fountain and sundial. A western wing extends from the main structure and defines the classical baroque layout of the property.

The castle was founded in 1593 by Pavel Katharin z Katharu and changed ownership after the Battle of White Mountain when it was taken from protestant nobility. These political shifts shaped the property's trajectory over centuries.

The castle reflects how Czech nobility transformed their residences during the 17th and 18th centuries by adopting baroque architectural styles. The building shows how these new forms became standard among the local elite during this period.

The property is currently closed to visitors because extensive renovation work is needed throughout the structure. Access is not permitted at this time due to ongoing conservation efforts.

The courtyard features two timepieces from different periods: a sundial from 1798 and a fountain from 1809, revealing separate phases of development. These elements show how the estate was expanded and refined over 11 years.
