Langweil’s Model of Prague, Paper model in Prague, Czech Republic
The Langweil model represents over 2,000 buildings in Prague's historic center at a scale of 1:480, covering 20 square meters of surface area.
Created between 1826 and 1834 by Antonin Langweil, this precise paper model captures Prague's appearance before major architectural transformations in the 19th century.
This model provides detailed documentation of Prague's Jewish Quarter prior to its 1890s redevelopment, making it an essential reference for architectural researchers.
The model resides in the Prague City Museum, currently undergoing renovations until spring 2025, with standard admission at 150 Czech Koruna.
The model contains 9,000 chimneys, 5,400 trees, and depicts two soldiers standing guard, the only human figures in this extensive representation.
