Church of Saints Peter and Paul, church in Žďár nad Sázavou District of Vysočina region
The Church of Saints Peter and Paul is a Baroque building in Horní Bobrová with a rectangular nave and a tall tower on the western side. The interior features curved ceilings, large windows, a decoratively designed main altar depicting the two saints, and several side altars with religious paintings.
A medieval place of worship originally stood on this site but became too small for the growing community by the early 18th century. Architect Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel designed a new Baroque structure in 1714, which was consecrated in 1722 while retaining portions of the older building.
The church serves as a gathering place for the community during religious services, celebrations, and local events, particularly on Sundays and special occasions. Local people value this building as an expression of their faith and their connection to the village's past.
The building is accessible during daytime hours for visitors to explore its interior spaces and examine the facade details that reveal different historical layers. The area surrounding the church is quiet, parking is available nearby, and you can reach the site on foot from the village center.
The tower is crowned by two bells, with the larger one dating to the 15th century and the smaller to the 16th century, still ringing during services and special occasions today. Local residents share old traditions that attribute special powers to these bells, linking them with good fortune and support during difficult times.
