Palác Vinohrady, International Style skyscraper in Vinohrady district, Prague, Czech Republic
Palác Vinohrady is a high-rise in the International Style that rises 18 stories to about 68 meters, using a steel frame with aluminum panels and thermal reflective glass windows. The structure contains office spaces and technical areas with roughly 88 windows per floor.
The building was constructed between 1962 and 1971 under the direction of FEAL Milan and initially served as headquarters for Strojimport Foreign Trade Company. The project was part of Prague's modernization efforts during the post-war period.
The building embodies the International Style that arrived in Prague during the post-war period, blending Western design principles with local construction practices. Its clean forms and glass facades continue to shape how the Vinohrady neighborhood looks today.
The building sits at the intersection of Vinohradská and Jana Želivského streets and is easily reached by public transport. It is visible and accessible from outside, though most visitors can only view it from the exterior without special access permission.
A pyramid-shaped steel structure was added to the roof in 2003 to carry telecommunications equipment and radio transmitters. This modern addition shows how the building has adapted to new technological needs over the decades.
