Most Dr. Edvarda Beneše, Road bridge in Štěchovice, Czech Republic

The Most Dr. Edvarda Beneše is a reinforced concrete bridge that crosses the Vltava River in Štěchovice with a span of approximately 114 meters. It carries road traffic and connects both riverbanks in a straightforward manner.

This bridge was named after Edvard Beneš, a president of Czechoslovakia who led the country through pivotal years in the mid-20th century. The structure reflects a specific moment in the region's past.

The bridge was officially named after Edvard Beneš in 1946, a year after the war's end, and has been listed as a cultural monument since late 1965. Its span replaced an older ferry crossing between Brunšov and Štěchovice, so the crossing point itself long predates the concrete structure.

The bridge carries road traffic between Brunšov and Štěchovice at the spot of the former ferry. It was closed for several days during the 2002 flood when water swept over the deck, and a reconstruction begun in April 2024 was finished in late May 2025.

At the end of the Second World War, German forces planned to mine the bridge and even prepared the charges' holes, but the explosives were never placed. The bridge then survived the 2002 hundred-year flood without damage, though water poured over it and closed it for several days.
