Park Špilberk

Park Špilberk is a public green space at the base of Špilberk Castle in Brno, with pathways winding through trees and vegetation. The grounds span roughly 17 hectares and provide multiple entry points for climbing toward the castle sitting on the hilltop.

The park was created between 1861 and 1862 under Mayor Christian d'Elvert's initiative, turning bare hillsides into a landscaped green space. This transformation continues to define how the area around the castle looks today.

The park holds monuments dedicated to important cultural figures like poet Jan Skácel and composer Pavel Křížkovský, shaping how locals remember their heritage. Walking through, you encounter these tributes that connect you to the region's artistic past.

The grounds offer outdoor exercise equipment, children's playgrounds, and a pétanque court for different activities. Multiple pathways let you explore at your own pace and choose sections based on your interests and energy level.

On the southern slope stands an 1885 lookout gazebo offering views across Brno's historic center and surrounding landscape. This vantage point provides one of the best perspectives of both the city and the castle.
