Nuselské schody, Historic granite staircase in Vinohrady, Czech Republic.
The Nuselské schody consists of fourteen sections with 182 steps, connecting Šafaříkova street with the lower part of Bělehradská street in Prague.
Constructed in 1891, these granite stairs replaced simple stone steps and included ten gas lamps to illuminate the path for pedestrians ascending and descending.
The stairs served as a primary route for residents attending the Fidlovačka shoemaker festival during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Each of the 182 steps measures 13 centimeters in height, featuring drainage channels and decorative iron railings on both sides for safety.
Halfway up the staircase stands an eighteenth-century chapel dedicated to the Holy Family, adding architectural interest to this urban passageway.
