Pilgrim trail Prague Loreta - Hájek Loreta, Pilgrims' way through Břevnov, Ruzyně, Řepy in Prague, Czech Republic.
The Pilgrim trail Prague Loreta - Hájek Loreta is a marked walking route in the Czech Republic that crosses the Prague neighborhoods of Břevnov, Ruzyně, and Řepy before reaching Červený Újezd. Along the way, twenty stone chapels mark the path at regular intervals.
The trail was created to connect the Prague Loreta with the Hájek shrine, one of the most visited Franciscan pilgrimage sites in Bohemia since the 17th century. It later received official recognition as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
The route links two Loreta shrines, both modeled on the Holy House of Nazareth, a tradition that spread across Bohemia in the 17th century. Walking it today means following the same path that drew pilgrims from across the region for generations.
The trail starts at the Prague Loreta in the Hradcany area and ends at the Hájek shrine in Červený Újezd, with clear markings throughout. Dry weather is advisable for some sections, as parts of the route follow unpaved paths and open countryside.
The twenty chapels were not all built at the same time but added over several centuries, making the trail a rare overview of how small religious architecture evolved in Bohemia. Some retain their original form while others were partly rebuilt over time.
