Mšenské pokličky

The Mšenské pokličky features multiple sandstone pillars with wide caps at their tops, creating natural stone mushroom shapes in the landscape.

These formations emerged from sediments of an ancient Cretaceous sea that covered the region approximately 90 million years ago, gradually transforming into layered sandstone.

The rock formations serve as markers along the Cinibulka trail, established in the 1940s, which guides visitors through narrow corridors and steep passages.

Visitors can access the formations via a marked path from the town of Mšeno, with stairs carved directly into the rock leading into the formation complex.

The sandstone structures display different color variations due to mineral content, setting them apart from other rock formations in northern Bohemia.
