Obora Holedná, Game reserve in Brno, Czech Republic
Obora Holedná is a 327-hectare woodland area situated between three Brno districts, featuring a network of marked hiking trails and viewing areas. The reserve is managed by the city's forestry authority and contains sections with wild boars, fallow deer, and mouflon in both open and enclosed zones.
The forest area was transformed into a managed wildlife reserve to protect local animal populations. This conversion reflected the city's effort to maintain and preserve its natural landscape resources.
The forest connects city dwellers with nature through observation areas and trails that reveal how wildlife lives and moves through the landscape. Visitors experience directly how wild boars and deer inhabit this space.
Several entry points with parking facilities along the Old Highway provide access to the network of marked trails in yellow, green, and blue. These color-coded paths help visitors select routes matching their walking ability and time.
The southern area features an enclosure where wild boars can approach visitors closely, creating direct animal encounters. This differs from the open roaming of fallow deer and mouflon throughout the wider woodland.
