Birth house of Alois Jirásek, Literary museum in Hronov, Czech Republic

The birth house of Alois Jirásek is a traditional rural building with local architectural features from the 18th century in northeastern Bohemia. The structure displays typical construction and design of that region's countryside.

The house was built in the 18th century by Alois Jirásek's grandfather Jakub Jirásek. Alois Jirásek was born here on 23 August 1851; his father Josef ran a bakery in the building. On the occasion of Jirásek's 70th birthday, funds were raised for the town to buy the house in 1925, and it was reconstructed between 1955 and 1957.

The house shows how Jirásek's family lived and worked during the national revival period. The rooms give a sense of daily habits and crafts practiced in a Bohemian village during the 1800s.

The house is located in Hronov and is accessible on foot from Hronov station, which sits on the Broumov-Starkoč railway line. The area is easy to explore and the building is centrally placed in the village.

The living room served as the family bakery, where Jirásek's father Josef practised his trade; it now holds period folk furniture that is not original to the house. A small side room is where Jirásek stayed during his studies. The walls and gables are whitewashed, following 19th-century custom.
