Sokolčí, Gothic castle ruin in Děkanské Skaliny, Czech Republic
Sokolčí is a castle ruin with Gothic architectural features in the Děkanské Skaliny area. The remains show a crenelated rampart and buildings that were arranged around a central courtyard.
The castle was founded in the second half of the 14th century by Čeněk of Wartenberg. It was destroyed by fire in 1648 and was never rebuilt after that.
The castle shows features of medieval defensive architecture that was typical for that time. It stood in a location that could control the surrounding area.
Visitors reach the ruin by following marked hiking trails in the South Bohemia region. Climbing experience and equipment are needed for closer exploration of the site.
