Rozhledna Sylván, uitkijktoren in Tsjechië
Rozhledna Sylván is an observation tower made of metal located on a hill about five kilometers from central Plzeň. The 68-meter tall structure has an observation platform at roughly 23 meters where visitors can see the city and surrounding landscape in all directions.
The tower was built around 2000 as a telecommunications station for T-Mobile and opened to the public in 2003. Since 2006, the municipal district of Plzeň 1 has managed and maintained the structure.
The tower serves as a meeting point where locals and visitors gather to experience the landscape around Plzeň. On clear days, people come to share views and take time to appreciate the city from above.
Visitors climb more than 120 steps to reach the observation platform and can enjoy views of distant mountain ranges like the Šumava and Český les on clear days. The hill is easily accessible from the city center by foot on a steep path, by bicycle on a dedicated track, or by car to a parking area below.
On clear days, visitors can spot German mountain peaks like Javor and Hohen-Bogen from the platform, revealing how far the view extends from this location. This detail surprises many guests who do not expect to see so far into the distance.
