Úsobí, Empire style château in Úsobí, Czech Republic

Úsobí is a late-Baroque château later remodelled in Empire style, standing on the bank of Panský rybník almost in the centre of the market town of Úsobí, beside the II/348 road and Úsobský potok. Its northeast wing holds a chapel built in 1757 and dedicated to Our Lady Help of Christians, St Florian and St Donatus.

First documented in 1307, when the Rožmberks passed the estate to the archbishops of Prague, it stayed with the Trčkas of Lípa for nearly 170 years from 1436. In 1751 František Jošt Göldin von Tiefenau bought it and had the fortress rebuilt as a late-Baroque château, adding a chapel in 1757; around 1830 it received its Empire-style form. After 1948 it housed a long-term care ward, was returned in 1992, and was bought at auction in 1999 by the present owner, who restored it.

The château's northeast wing holds a chapel built in 1757 by František Jošt Göldin z Tiefenau and dedicated to Our Lady Help of Christians, St Florian and St Donatus; it was altered during the Empire-style works around 1830. The property is also home to Turistická známka No. 1989, a collector's stamp sold to visitors.

The château stands on the bank of Panský rybník, beside the Úsobský potok and the road II/348 from Chyška to Herálec, near the centre of Úsobí. It has been a protected cultural monument since 1958. A tourist stamp, No. 1989 – Zámek Úsobí, is kept here.

The château has been listed as a Czech cultural monument since 1958 and holds Turistická známka No. 1989, a collectible tourist stamp; the stamp is a small detail visitors can look for. The building stands by Panský rybník, with the Úsobský potok flowing right beside it.
