Tisy v Krompachu

Tisy v Krompachu is a protected yew tree in the village of Krompach, located within the Lužické hory Protected Landscape Area. The tree stands approximately 7 meters tall and has a trunk circumference of about 175 centimeters.

Records indicate the tree was planted around 1580, giving it a presence spanning several centuries. According to accounts, Hussite forces gathered beneath its branches before launching an attack on Oybin Castle.

The tree appears in the television series 'Paměť stromů', which documents notable trees across the region. This recognition reflects how local communities value ancient trees as connections to their land and history.

The tree stands on a slope near house number 127 in the village, enclosed by a protective fence. You can visit it throughout the year, and the location is accessible from the main part of the village.

The trunk is formed from three merged stems, which accounts for its larger girth compared to other yew trees of similar age. This unusual structure makes it visually distinct among other ancient trees in the landscape.
