Jilemnice Castle

Jilemnice Castle is a Renaissance Revival château located at the heart of the town, featuring symmetrical facades and decorated windows throughout its structure. The building encompasses multiple wings arranged around a central courtyard that houses various exhibition spaces.

The structure originated in earlier times but was fundamentally transformed in 1701 when the Harrach family acquired it. This marked the beginning of its role as a center for the region's linen industry, which defined its importance for centuries.

The castle houses the Giant Mountains Museum, which displays exhibitions about regional crafts and the role textiles played in shaping the community. Visitors can see how the linen trade shaped daily life and work patterns in this part of the country.

The castle is located on Kostelní Street in the town center and is easily accessible on foot. Plan enough time to explore the different exhibition areas, as the museum covers several themes across multiple rooms.
