Turbová, Cultural monument in Košíře, Czech Republic.
Turbová is a Neo-Baroque villa in Košíře distinguished by a prominent tower and mansard roof with dormers. The structure stands at the intersection of Jinonická and Vrchlického streets, now visibly affected by years of abandonment.
The homestead was built in 1756 as a Baroque structure by F. X. Turba and underwent a Neo-Baroque transformation around 1900. This major redesign reshaped the building into the form it still displays today.
The house served as a gathering place for Prague's creative circles during the early 20th century, hosting conversations between writers and performers. Visitors can still sense the intellectual energy that once animated these rooms, even in their current quiet state.
The property is not open to the public due to private ownership and active security measures. Visitors can view the exterior from the street but should keep a respectful distance from the gates and grounds.
Animator Jiří Trnka lived and worked here from 1939 to 1958, creating acclaimed films such as 'Zahrada' and 'Císařův slavík' within these walls. The artist used the residence as both a home and a studio for his groundbreaking animation work.
