Moravské Budějovice

Moravské Budějovice castle is a Renaissance structure with architectural features from the second half of the 17th century, with its stone facade standing out in the town center. The building contains exhibition spaces and additional structures, including stables that serve various purposes today.

Construction of the castle began after a devastating fire in 1673 that destroyed half the town, requiring rebuilding under the Schaumburk family. The building emerged as part of the town's recovery during the second half of the 17th century.

The castle houses a crafts museum that displays traditional skills from the Vysočina region. Visitors can see how local artisans work and what they create here.

The castle is open daily except Mondays from April to October with guided tours available in Czech. Information in English is available on-site to help visitors understand the exhibitions.

The castle stables regularly host cultural events and local community gatherings today. This ongoing use shows how the building continues to serve as a cultural center for the town.
