Vráteň, Volcanic summit in Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area, Czech Republic.
Wratner Berg is a volcanic summit in a protected landscape area topped with a 40-meter steel observation tower with viewing platforms. The peak rises to 507 meters and the tower provides expansive views across the surrounding terrain from multiple levels.
A wooden tower was built on the summit in 1893 for fire brigade surveillance and stood until strong winds destroyed it in 1916. The steel tower that stands today was constructed later to replace the damaged structure and provide improved access to the views.
The summit takes its name from historical local land designations and remains a popular destination where visitors gather to orient themselves toward distant landmarks. This gathering point brings people from the surrounding region together to experience the expansive views that define the place.
The tower is accessible daily from April through September, with parking available near former quarry sites in the area. The observation platforms are available during most weather conditions, though sturdy footwear is recommended for the climb.
On clear days, visitors from the observation deck can spot multiple castles and mountain ranges simultaneously, including Bezděz Castle and Houska Castle in different directions. These distant views help hikers understand their position within the larger landscape and plan their journeys.
