Kounic Palace

Kounic Palace is a baroque building in Prague's New Town district featuring a symmetrical facade with balanced window placement and decorative stonework. The interior contains multiple rooms and now functions as an event space and entertainment venue.

Architect František Maxmilián Kaňka designed and built the palace in 1725 during a period when Prague was expanding and baroque-style buildings were being constructed across the city. It was created as a residence for a wealthy family from the start.

The palace takes its name from a noble family and reveals through its design how wealthy residents wanted to display their status in the 18th century. Visitors can see through the architectural details and room layouts how people of rank lived and conducted their affairs.
