Prírodný park Heřmanův Městec
The Heřmanův Městec Nature Park is a protected forested area with meadows and stone paths spread across several hectares. The grounds feature different woodland types, trees of varying ages, and open green spaces with small streams.
The area was officially designated as a protected zone in 1996 to preserve the local landscape and plant life. The site was historically home to large birds of prey such as eagles and vultures before these species disappeared from the region.
The park takes its name from the town of Heřmanův Městec that surrounds it. Locals use this space to walk, rest on benches, and gather with family and friends on weekends.
The park is easily accessible from various entry points and offers marked walking paths for visitors of all ability levels. Free parking is available, and the trails are well maintained and easy to navigate.
The park is home to some of the oldest trees in the area, including a giant oak with a trunk circumference of over 16 feet (5 meters) that is officially protected. This ancient tree is frequently photographed by visitors and stands as a living record of the forest's history stretching back centuries.
