Zámek Potštejn

Potštejn Castle is a Baroque structure from the 18th century with curved facades, refined interiors, and tall windows overlooking maintained gardens. The grounds combine a formal French garden with an English park where uncommon tree species grow.

The castle rose between 1749 and 1755 for Jan Ludvík Harbuval Chamaré, following an older estate that could not survive the economic troubles of the 17th century. Its construction marked a family's fresh start and transformed the location into an important local center.

The château serves as a venue for theatrical and musical performances that draw visitors into its rooms throughout the year. These events reveal how the nobility lived here and what artistic traditions were nurtured within these walls.

The property now operates as a hotel with guest rooms, allowing visitors to stay overnight and explore the rooms at leisure. Tours are offered regularly, and it is wise to check ahead about timing and availability for your visit.

On the grounds stands the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, built in 1766 and marking the endpoint of a religious pilgrimage route. This route has drawn pilgrims for centuries, giving the castle an added spiritual dimension.
