The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a Gothic building in the center of Havlíčkův Brod featuring pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and a slender tower. The interior displays columns, windows, and spatial arrangements typical of Gothic architecture from this period.

The church was built in early Gothic style at the end of the 13th century. The tower and the southern part were added around 1380, and the Hussites burned the church in 1422. The tower was raised by one storey in 1570, the church was rebuilt in 1633–37, and it received a Baroque cupola in 1707.

The church's bell, Vilém, cast in the early 14th century, is among the oldest in the Czech Republic and hangs in the massive Gothic tower, which has a viewing gallery. The tower was raised by one storey in 1570 and received its Baroque cupola in 1707.
