Hájovna Orlovy

Orlovy forester's lodge is a hunting lodge located in the forested landscape of the Vysočina region, sitting about 4 kilometers south of Lipnice nad Sázavou. The building is managed by the Humpolec scout organization and operates as a base for educational programs and outdoor activities.

In the early 1900s, Knight Josef Stránský owned this property, and it became a vital location in establishing the Czech scouting movement. The first Czech scouting camp organized near here in 1912 marked the start of the youth organization that would grow across the nation.

The lodge represents a place where the founder of Czech scouting developed the ideas that shaped the youth movement for generations. The connection between nature and education that took root here continues to define how many young people experience outdoor learning in the country.

Access to the lodge is easiest by car along regional roads, as it sits in a remote forest location; winter conditions can make local paths difficult to navigate. Planning ahead and contacting the local scout organization is important to learn about visit conditions and available activities.

The founder of Czech scouting wrote two foundational books here that became the ideological basis for the entire movement, developing his educational philosophy through direct engagement with the forest setting.
