Botanical Garden in Bečov nad Teplou

The Botanical Garden in Bečov nad Teplou spreads across roughly 19 hectares and displays hundreds of plant species in carefully arranged areas. Multiple viewpoints are scattered throughout the grounds, and each plant carries a number to help visitors identify what they are seeing.

The garden was founded between 1925 and 1927 when Heinrich Beaufort-Spontin decided to transform an unused hillside into a plant collection. His project grew from a desire to gather many plant types in one location for future generations to study.

The garden serves as a space where visitors naturally spend time observing and learning about different plant types and their characteristics. The layout encourages people to move through the grounds at their own pace, noticing how plants change with the seasons.

The garden operates on a seasonal schedule with guided tours available at set times. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes since the terrain is hilly, and it is best to allow several hours to see the different sections properly.

Among the plants in the garden stands a cork tree from the Far East that received the recognition of Belgium's Hero Tree in 2006. This rare species makes the garden a place where visitors can see trees that most people will never encounter elsewhere.
