Hradenín

Hradenín is a castle ruin of a fortified residence featuring a five-story residential tower surrounded by a moat carved into the bedrock. A Renaissance stone bridge connects the various sections of the compound.

The site originated in the 14th century as property of wealthy citizens from nearby Kutná Hora. Over time it underwent architectural changes reflecting late Gothic style in its vaulted ceilings and fortified design.

The fortress was home to prosperous families who shaped the village's character for centuries. You can see how local nobility and wealthy citizens displayed their status through this fortified residence.

The site is located in a village and managed by the local museum, which carries out ongoing restoration work. Visitors should expect uneven terrain and partially unstable structures, so caution is needed when exploring.

The ruin displays a striking shift from medieval fortress to wealthy manor house, visible in how the structures blend together. This hybrid design was later enhanced with Renaissance elements like the stone bridge that still connects the compound.
