Church of Assumption of Virgin Mary, Gothic church in Kroměříž, Czech Republic.
The church features a high rectangular bell tower completed between 1490 and 1493, which stands as a central element of the local architecture.
The Gothic structure was constructed in 1488 on the foundation of a previous church that existed before 1383, following a fire that affected the town in 1479.
The preserved presbytery from the original church remains at an angle to the nave of the late Gothic church, displaying different architectural periods.
Between 1735 and 1739, builders added Baroque holy stairs next to the church to accommodate the increasing number of religious pilgrims.
The bell tower historically served to signal the start of work shifts for local miners, connecting religious architecture with industrial traditions.
