Villa Lexa, building in Rakovník II, Czech Republic
Villa Lexa, also known as vila Na Losích, is a modern residential building in Rakovník II with geometric lines and functional design from the early 20th century. The structure features clean, simple forms, flat rooflines, and a mix of smooth plaster and brick cladding that distinguishes it from older building styles.
The villa was designed in 1908 by architect Otakar Novotný for painter František Lexa and took two years to complete. In 1998, the building received the status of a cultural monument of the Czech Republic, recognizing its architectural and historical significance.
The villa is connected to painter and professor František Lexa, who lived and worked here. The name Na Losích reflects the local area and the building serves as a reminder of how creative people shaped the neighborhood's identity through their presence and influence.
The building is located on Štemberova Street and can be viewed from outside, with its clean geometric architecture clearly visible. Since the villa is currently out of service, a quiet walk around the area is recommended to observe the simple windows, straight walls, and clear lines of the structure.
The villa was originally surrounded by a small garden featuring brick planters and rose beds, a rarely preserved detail of the original design. This green space was conceived as part of the overall modern living plan and shows how much care was taken to connect interior and exterior spaces.
