Castle in Planá, Renaissance château in Planá u Mariánských Lázní, Czech Republic
The castle complex features architectural elements spanning from Gothic through Renaissance to Baroque periods, with an eight-story tower and three wings.
The first documented mention of the castle dates to 1251, although the structure underwent significant transformations following fires in 1395 and 1617.
The castle served as a residence for several noble families, including the Sinzendorf and Nostitz families who implemented substantial architectural modifications.
While the English park remains accessible to visitors, the castle interiors are closed as the structure undergoes preservation efforts by private owners.
The castle functioned as a border patrol base from 1948 to 1991, leading to considerable deterioration of its historical architecture.
