Třebel Castle, zrúcanina hradu v Česku
Třebel Castle is a castle ruin located in Černošín in the Czech Republic. The remains include sections of stone walls, earthworks, and a deep moat carved into the rock, which once provided defense for the fortress.
The castle was founded in the mid-13th century by the Svojšín family and later expanded by the Volfštejn and Švamberk families. In 1647, during the Thirty Years' War, Swedish troops attacked and destroyed it, leaving it as a ruin.
The castle bears the name of the medieval family who founded it and shaped the region. Today, visitors can see how such fortresses served as centers of authority and daily life for surrounding communities.
The site is accessible from the town of Černošín and sits on a hill with views across the surrounding countryside. Entry is free and the ruins can be explored on foot with paths that are easy to walk.
A large Baroque granary was built on the castle site in the 18th century, constructed directly over the foundations of the old courtyard. This structure shows how the location was repurposed after destruction and given a new role in local agriculture.
