Lucerna cinema is located inside the Art Nouveau Lucerna Palace complex in New Town. The venue has a main hall with 453 seats and a smaller auditorium with 51 seats.

The cinema opened in 1909 as part of Lucerna Palace, built by Vaclav Havel, grandfather of former Czech President Václav Havel. A second screening room was added in 2013.

The cinema's name comes from the Lucerna Palace it occupies, a building whose name means "lantern" in Czech. The venue is part of a complex that also houses a passage, bar, café and large social hall, all sharing the Lucerna name.

Both screening rooms feature 4K digital projection, 3D capability, and Dolby Surround 7.1 sound systems for quality viewing. The halls are inside the historic building and easy to locate by following the posted signs.
