Church of Our Lady of the Snow, Baroque church in Krásná Lípa, Czech Republic

The Church of Our Lady of the Snow is a Baroque single-nave church with a rectangular plan and a narrower, semicircular presbytery, built in 1732 by Lipová builder Zacharias Hoffmann. The nave has a flat ceiling and a wooden three-armed gallery, while the presbytery is vaulted with lunettes. A rectangular sacristy adjoins the north side, and a sandstone relief tombstone from 1732 stands by the presbytery.

In 1732 Johann Christoph and Anna Liebsch had a large chapel built on the spur above the Křinice valley, which became a popular pilgrimage site. A nave was added in 1847, giving the chapel the dimensions of a church, and when the parish was canonically established in 1851 a cemetery was laid out west of the church, which became the parish church. Pilgrimages were interrupted after 1945 and gradually resumed at the end of the 20th century, when the interior was also restored.

The pilgrimage church is dedicated to Our Lady of the Snow, whose feast on 5 August became the fixed date of the pilgrimage from the 19th century. The tradition was interrupted after 1945 and revived in the late 20th century, when the interior was also restored.

The church stands on a promontory above the Křinice river valley, with a view over the eastern part of Bohemian Switzerland. A cemetery was laid out west of the building in 1851. The sandstone relief tombstone from 1732 beside the presbytery marks the church's founding year, when Johann Christoph and Anna Liebsch had the chapel built. The church was designed by Zacharias Hoffmann of Lipová, who built it according to his own plans.
