Church of Saint John the Baptist, Gothic fortified church in Kurdějov, Czech Republic
The church stands on elevated ground with thick defensive walls, incorporating both religious architecture and military fortification elements in its structure.
During the Hussite Wars of the 15th century, the church served as a stronghold, protecting local inhabitants from attacks and maintaining defensive positions.
The interior contains preserved Gothic architectural elements, vaulted ceilings, and religious artworks that represent medieval Bohemian craftsmanship.
The church opens for visitors from April through October, with guided tours available in Czech language upon arrangement at the municipal office.
The fortified structure includes an underground tunnel system that connected the church to different parts of the village during medieval times.
