Church of Saint Agnes of Bohemia, Functionalist church in Záběhlice, Prague, Czech Republic

The Church of Saint Agnes of Bohemia is a place of worship in Záběhlice with characteristic features of functionalist design: clean lines, geometric forms, and no ornamental details. Windows and walls are arranged so that natural light shapes the interior space.

The foundation stone was consecrated on 28 October 1934, and construction under builder Pospíšil, chosen from nine candidates for his lowest bid, was permitted on 1 March 1935. The church was finished on 28 October 1935 and consecrated the day before by ThDr. Jaroslav Kulač. Building modifications followed in the 1960s.

The church is dedicated to Saint Agnes of Bohemia and was built on land donated by the Catholic politician František Nosek. In the basement there is a small theatre hall seating 100 people, a Catholic library and a scouts' clubroom, so the building serves the parish beyond worship.

The church is located in the Záběhlice district and is accessible by public transportation from central Prague. Visitors should check whether regular services are scheduled, as this affects when you can visit.
