Road bridge in Loket, Reinforced concrete arch bridge in Loket, Czech Republic.
The road bridge in Loket is a reinforced concrete arch structure that spans 116 meters across the Ohře River. It measures about 10 meters wide and rises approximately 17 meters above the river level.
Architect Adolf Benš designed this bridge to replace an earlier Kaiser Ferdinand Bridge. It opened in 1936 and has served as a key transportation link for the area since then.
The bridge links different neighborhoods and gives people walking across it views of the medieval town below. It forms part of daily life, showing how residents connect to different parts of Loket.
The bridge is open daily for both vehicles and pedestrians and serves as a main passage through town. The best access is directly from the main street, where both cars and people on foot can cross together.
The structure uses curved arches to distribute weight from traffic and push it outward against solid concrete supports. This clever design allows the relatively slender bridge to carry heavy loads safely.
