Prison in Mladá Boleslav, Correctional facility in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic.
The Prison in Mladá Boleslav was an institutional building with sturdy construction and multiple wings arranged systematically for security purposes. The facility contained cell blocks, administrative areas, and separate sections designed for different categories of inmates.
Architect František Janda, who studied under Jan Kotera at the Academy of Arts in Prague, designed this facility in the early 1900s. The building operated as a correctional institution for many decades before eventually ceasing its original purpose.
The structure reflects the evolution of Czech institutional architecture and stands as a testament to the period's approach to correctional facilities.
The building was connected to the nearby District Court, highlighting its location within the justice center area. After closure, the structure was no longer used for its original purpose and eventually vacated.
After decommissioning, the building served as a film location before being demolished in August 2022. This final phase before demolition showed how institutional structures from the past could find new purpose in contemporary productions.
