Church of Saint Catherine in Dolní Podluží, Renaissance church in Dolní Podluží, Czech Republic

The Church of Saint Catherine in Dolní Podluží is an oriented single-nave church completed in 1548 in the Saxon Renaissance style, with a flat-ceilinged interior and a choir closed by a rounded apse. Square sacristies with oratories above flank the nave, and the tower, rebuilt in Neo-Gothic form after the 1867 fire, projects from the facade.

A wooden church originally stood on this site in the 14th century before being replaced by a brick building in 1548. The structure received its current form through extensive renovations that took place between 1720 and 1734.

The church is dedicated to Saint Catherine of Siena, though sources also give Catherine of Alexandria. Regular services stopped when the building was closed to the public in 1998; the parish is now administered from Varnsdorf. A wooden cross on the south wall bears the German inscription "Rette deine Seele!" with the years 1895, 1909 and 2009.

The church is located in a small village near the Bohemian-Saxon border and can be reached on foot from the village center. The location is somewhat remote, so having your own transport helps you explore the surrounding area at your own pace.

On the south wall hangs a wooden double-armed cross inscribed "Rette deine Seele!" (Save your soul!) with the dates 1895, 1909 and 2009. The church has been closed to the public since 1998, when failing roof trusses and ceiling beams forced the closure.
