Andělské schody, Natural monument in Voznice, Czech Republic.
Andělské schody is a protected natural monument located near Voznice, in the Central Bohemian region of the Czech Republic. The site consists of a forested area with rocky terrace formations, open clearings, and a mix of woodland and meadow vegetation covering the gentle slopes.
The area was officially designated as a protected natural monument in 2013, when regional authorities recognized the ecological value of its forests and meadow habitats. Before that, it was an overlooked part of the Central Bohemian countryside without any formal protection.
The name "Andělské schody" means "Angel Stairs" in Czech, likely inspired by the way the rocky outcrops and natural terraces step up through the forest. Walkers who visit today often stop to photograph these formations, which stand out clearly among the surrounding trees.
The site is reached from Voznice along marked hiking trails that are well signposted and suitable for most visitors. Footwear with good grip is useful since the paths can get muddy after rain, especially near the meadow areas.
Despite its small size, the site shelters several rare insect and reptile species that depend on the mix of shaded forest and open sunny patches. These animals are rarely spotted because they tend to stay hidden in leaf litter and low vegetation.
