Chladná dolina, Natural monument in Lukov, Czech Republic
Chladná dolina is a protected natural area in the Hostýn hills near Lukov, featuring wetland forests and marshy terrain. The landscape consists of flat woodland with pools and streams connected by hiking trails that link to surrounding routes.
The area received protected status in 1991 to preserve its ecological importance. Additional recognition came in 2014 to strengthen its conservation measures.
The pond's shore previously housed the Hungry Wolves Settlement cabin from 1939 until the 1960s, reflecting local outdoor recreation traditions.
Access is through marked hiking trails with green and yellow blazes that connect to a larger route around the area. The flat, wooded terrain makes walking relatively easy for most visitors.
The area serves as an important refuge for amphibians and supports more than 40 species of water insects. The waterlogged forests are known for marsh marigolds that bloom in spring.
