The building originated in the 14th century with Gothic design, but gained prominence through a tragic event in 1621 when its owner Václav Budovec was executed at Old Town Square along with 26 other nobles. This execution marked a turning point that linked the house to one of Prague's most significant historical moments.

The house bears the name of the Budovec family and displays an iron statue of Václav Budovec on its facade, keeping the family's memory alive in the Old Town landscape.
