Stružinecká pahorkatina

The Stružinecká pahorkatina is a gently rolling landscape located in the southwestern portion of the broader upland region, covering a substantial expanse of countryside. The terrain rises and falls between elevations of roughly 525 to 660 meters, creating a varied topography of valleys, wooded slopes, and open hillsides.

The area received human settlement during the reign of King Václav II, when villages and mills began to develop along the Chrudimka River in the 14th century. These early communities established patterns of habitation that would shape how the landscape was used for centuries afterward.

The Veselý Kopec open-air museum displays traditional buildings that were moved here from nearby villages to show how locals built their homes and practiced crafts long ago. You can walk through these relocated structures and get a sense of what daily life looked like in the region's past.

The area connects to major roads and has access to a railway line that serves the region, making it reachable from nearby towns. Exploring the landscape works best when you have your own transportation or join organized tours of the locality.

The Buchtovka natural reserve protects small streams and wetlands home to uncommon plant species adapted to moist conditions, making it a hidden natural feature. This pocket of ecological importance is rarely noticed by visitors despite being a notable conservation area within the protected landscape.
