Klobouky u Brna Castle, Schloss in Tschechien
Klobouky u Brna Castle is a single-story stone and brick building with baroque architecture located in the town center. The structure features a rectangular plan, a columned main entrance facing the square, stone-framed windows, vaulted interior ceilings, and a wooden balcony overlooking the courtyard.
The castle was built in 1589 on the site of an earlier fortress and originally served as a summer residence for Premonstratensian monks. In the early 1700s it was enlarged and redesigned in baroque style, then passed to private ownership after the monastery closed in 1784.
The castle functions as the town hall, museum, and cultural center for the community. Its baroque architecture and public role reflect how the town maintains its connection to the past while serving everyday civic life.
The castle is easily located in the town center on the main square and accessible on foot. The ground floor houses public services including the town office and museum, where you can explore exhibits on local history and heritage.
The first Czechoslovak president Tomas Masaryk visited the castle regularly, as his parents worked there in 1870. A plaque on the wall marks his connection to the place, which he maintained throughout his later life.
